Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre (MWRC), is a centre of inspiration in the Fitzroy Valley that provides women and their families a place for positive change, safety and wellbeing, and leadership. Marninwarntikura is a Walmajarri word - meaning ‘women who come together’. MWRC is a nationally regarded ACCO engaging in purposeful international research and innovative projects including advocacy, mentoring, capacity building, supports, education and creating models of care designed to meet community need, enable children, young people and families to thrive through culturally safe services.

This role is to support the implementation of the Marulu Strategy, a collaborative effort with essential partners to find solutions that address the community response to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and Early Life Trauma (ELT) in the Valley. The team are building community knowledge and creating quality services that address different needs at different stages throughout the lifespan.

About the job

The role will contribute to, support, and collaborate with various teams and key stakeholders to implement the Marulu Strategy priorities, and progress the theory of change. The role will effectively design and oversee the Bigiswun Social and Emotional Wellbeing team, Marurra U teams and the Kimberley Supports (ECS) team, engaging with the community and multiple stakeholders that are working with us to realise lasting social impact that help families to thrive. Stakeholders include schools, government services, families, research partners, KAMS Consortium members, and local ACCO’s.

You will manage effective operations and build on our ways of working, always providing strong leadership and support to the team. You will capture impacts for reporting and evaluation, build knowledge in the community, ensure strategic compliance, and engage in advocacy. You will also enable and support the teams on the ground to deliver innovative quality supports to children, families, and communities.

About You

You will be purpose-driven with a demonstrated commitment to the rights and interests of Aboriginal people, and the safety of children and families everywhere. You will be a strong leader using a positive, supportive trauma-informed relational approach that fosters a healthy team culture and promotes quality service delivery using deep listening, effective communication and strong collaboration. You are able to work in a dynamic and sensitive environment using efficiency, proactivity and sound organisational skills. As part of a two-way team, you will be able to work with and build capacity of people in a culturally responsive way, accountable and dedicated to continuous improvement that drives community safety and wellbeing.

About Your Work Experience

  • Relevant qualification in counselling, education, social work, community services, or related field.
  • Understanding of, and experience working with FASD and ELT that supports healing using child/family-centred approaches.
  • Extensive knowledge of trauma informed models of care and culturally safe ways of working
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing and coaching a team that enhances capability, confidence, and fosters a healthy and supportive team environment.
  • Demonstrated empathy and awareness of complex cultural, institutional and systemic influences faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote locations.
  • Worked in remote locations, walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and working in two way teams.
  • Highly developed interpersonal written and communication skills.

You will need to evidence Right to Work in Australia, current Drivers Licence, National Police Clearance and WA Working With Children Check
