The Emergency Service within Alfred Health sees over 100,00 patients per annum. Sandringham Emergency Department manages approximately 30,000 and The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre (E&TC) manages approximately 75,000 patients. Sandringham Emergency Department is community focused and has an integrated Urgent Care Centre model of care. In addition, Sandringham also manages paediatric patients providing a dynamic mix and opportunity to enhance clinical and management skills. The E&TC provides emergency medical services to the local community whilst also providing Victorian state-wide services for:
Alfred Health aims to ensure all patients receive timely, high quality care consistent with their clinical needs. This principle applies to all our patients, those admitted as a result of emergency, elective surgery patients and those treated as outpatients through our specialist clinics. For our emergency patients this involves patients being assessed by a senior doctor who will provide their definitive care as soon as possible.
Our care delivery system is based on a multi-disciplinary team approach to care. Each shift is staffed by a complement of both senior and junior medical and nursing staff; this enables a safe, supported practice environment to facilitate safe patient care delivery and experiential learning opportunities for all staff. Medical and nursing staff work collaboratively in the comprehensive assessment, person centred care planning and delivery of treatment of our patients for the entire duration of their stay.
The Nurse Manager - Workforce & Operations is a member of the nursing leadership team who assists the Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre and Sandringham, Nurse Managers to develop and sustain the best workforce, is responsible for clinical outcomes and management of staff. The Nurse Manager – Workforce and Operations is a professional and clinical leader in Nursing Services and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives.
The Nurse Manager - Workforce & Operations supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes the development of nurses, ensuring the philosophy of nursing and standards of practice are consistently reflected in professional practice and patient care. Together with the Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre and Sandringham Nurse Managers, the Nurse Manager for Workforce & Operations is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes.
Applicants must be a current Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and have recent extensive experience in an acute clinical and trauma service.
