Remote / Work from Home
Do you have professional communications experience and skills in promotions and website development to grow a small ambitious not-for-profit organisation?
A volunteer Communications Manager is sought to build a viable branch of Alternatives to Violence in Victoria (AVP-Vic).
Your contribution will be instrumental in driving AVP-Vic forward, transforming conflicts and avoiding violence, and building more peaceful, just and creative communities in Victoria and beyond.
This role may be done part time from home.
The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) develops participants' abilities to resolve conflicts without resorting to manipulation, coercion, or violence. A global network of trained AVP facilitators run experiential, conflict transformation activities around the world.
In Australia each state or territory has unique ways of organising and offers different activities fit to their context. AVP-Vic is an independent incorporated body, part of the wider AVP network.
A small management committee in Victoria is aiming to rebuild energy and activities to serve our community in the face of many social, economic, climate and post-pandemic challenges. Our current focus is on working with community groups and to engage more young people in our activities.
A passionate and responsible communications manager you will bring your commitment to growing creative non-violence and, preferably, experience nurturing small grass-roots start-ups. You are resilient and keen to work collaboratively with others for lasting impact.
This role is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to the noble cause of reducing both interpersonal and structural violence in society. You will help ensure that AVP-Vic has realistic communication goals, budgets, and manages its communications and communications achievements effectively, ethically, and efficiently. You will have some experience with communications planning, webpage development and use of various other media for promotions.
