The Aboriginal Medical Service Co-Operative was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in Australia.

THE POSITION

The HR Manager is responsible for crafting a positive and productive work environment by overseeing the entire employee experience, from recruitment to development. This role focuses on nurturing both the individual and the organisation. The HR Manager achieves this through strategic talent management and acquisition, ensuring fair implementation of workplace regulations, and strategic workforce planning.

As a key player shaping AMS Redfern's culture and strategic direction, the HR Manager works hand- in-hand with the Executive Team to guarantee smooth operation of HR processes and deliver exceptional HR services to all employees.

GENERAL SKILLS

  • Cultural awareness.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and positively influence staff.
  • Experience in and/or commitment to post graduate education and training for health professionals.
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and implement change, and positively influence others in achieving agreed outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective management of complaints and conflict.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products as well as internet and e-mail
  • The appointment is subject to satisfactory outcomes of Police and Working with Children checks.

EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years’ relevant generalist human resources experience.
  • Worked in a NFP sector.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and HRIS systems.
  • Hands on experience in the areas of recruitment, performance management, succession planning and driving HR initiatives.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced technical experience in the application of Fair Work Act (2009) and award interpretation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
