About Concern Australia

Concern Australia is a not-for-profit, faith-based organisation working with young people aged 15-25 years, creating exciting opportunities for them to live full and meaningful lives.

We find our roots in the work of Rev Dr John Smith who, over 50 years ago, began partnering with young people to establish creative and effective ways to create positive opportunities and futures.

Our work focusses on the creation, development, and delivery of responses in the areas of Living Learning & Earning and Housing & Homelessness along with strong partnerships in the Youth Justice space. Each year we connect with 25,000 vulnerable young people across Australia.

Concern Australia runs several programs, including Hand Brake Turn, a 5-week prevocational automotive course for disengaged young people. The course aims to provide a safe space for young people to learn life skills while building confidence and hope for their future.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager – Service Delivery, the Program Manager is an exciting new permanent role created to oversee our learning and skills development programs, which includes Hand Brake Turn and other future learning opportunities. The focus of this leadership role is to bring a clinical, therapeutic approach to these programs based on current research, trends, and methodologies.

This position is classified in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Modern award MA000100, level 6. Travel will be required between our offices in Sunshine West and Dandenong, covered by a travel allowance.

What you will need to succeed

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, youth justice, youth work, or similar field
  • Extensive experience in the youth work sector (minimum 5 years, including 2 years leadership)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of research trends and current growth opportunities
  • Leadership/Management skills with a people-centred approach
