About the role

As a member of the Eastern Community Legal Centre’s Elder Abuse Response Programs, the Elder Abuse Advocate will:

  • Work as an integral part of two multidisciplinary programs alongside Community Lawyers, Financial Counsellors, Elder Abuse Advocates, and other community service professionals.
  • Provide intensive, wraparound support for older clients experiencing elder abuse, including psychosocial support, risk management and safety planning, emotional support, and referrals.
  • Participate in community engagement activities.

About you

You are an experienced social worker or community services professional with a passion for supporting clients experiencing elder abuse or family violence. You provide trauma-informed and culturally safe support to clients experiencing complex circumstances. You are keen to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team. Specifically, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, health/social sciences, and/or extensive experience in the community or welfare sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience providing specialist family violence or elder abuse services or other extensive and relevant direct client service delivery.
  • An understanding of the social and legal context of elder abuse and a commitment to social justice.
