  • Salary: $130,000 - $135,000 p.a. (to be pro-rated to 0.6FTE, excl. super) depending on experience
  • Reports to: Managing Principal Lawyer

Equity Generation Lawyers are specialists in Australian climate change law. We combine expertise in climate change risk and a flair for innovative legal action that has international reach. We have in-depth knowledge of climate science, policy and regulation. We are experts in understanding the physical and transition impacts of climate change on investors, governments, people and the environment. ABOUT THE ROLE

The core function of this role is to manage EGL’s operations and strategic execution and provide strategic advice to EGL’s Managing Principal Lawyer.

You are a seriously well-organised self-starter who brings and maintains order, enjoys solving problems, loves making people’s lives easier and has an eagle eye for detail. You are passionate about supporting a team of lawyers helping our clients and are confident to take the lead on all things operations for a small/mid-size law firm.

You're flexible, love variety and are happy operating at any level. You thrive on being the "go-to" person for operations queries and you appreciate the big picture and balance that with a high level of attention to detail and a collaborative mindset to prioritise your work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts and Finance

  • Supervising EGL’s Accounts and Finance function

  • Informing organisational budgeting process and funding projections

  • Informing organisational cash flow, accounts, and funding allocation

  • Oversee financial and other reporting

Administration

  • Overseeing office and supply management
  • Assisting with compliance – CPDs, insurance, practising certificates
  • Reviewing and responding to general enquiries
  • Leading event organisation
  • Assisting with litigation logistics
  • Overseeing internal file management and enforcing protocols in our cloud-based systems
  • Recordkeeping and archiving
  • Management of liaison with external contractors/suppliers
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding and staff development (human resource function)

Strategic execution

  • Supervising the execution of EGL’s Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Other firm and resourcing planning activities as required

Necessary Qualifications:

  • A completed, relevant tertiary qualification

Experience Guide:

  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience
  • Significant experience in operations and management
  • Experience in business strategy and business development
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Experience within a legal practice setting
  • Experience managing a budget/operations for a legal practice
  • Ability to fulfill an operations function independently
  • A passion for action on climate change and a commitment to social justice
  • Experience in leading development (staff/organisational/financial)

Skills:

  • Able to manage multiple demands and prioritise workload
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to fulfil an accounts and finance function independently
