We are seeking a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to step into our Crisis Response After Hours Team! This role is available on a casual basis at a SCHADS Level 5 pay point dependent on experience ($59.38-$62.06 per hour) superannuation + penalty rates.

The Crisis Response Family Violence Program offers a specialist face-to-face response to victim survivors and their children who have recently experienced family violence and are being accommodated in the Western Metropolitan or Brimbank Melton regions. The service is accessible 7 days per week 24-hours per day on weekends and public holidays.

As a casual within this team you will be working Afterhours shifts from 4:30pm - 9:30pm on week days (Monday to Friday) with on-call for recall until 9am the next day. In addition, you will be required to support with shifts from 12pm-8pm on weekends and oncall to recall from 8pm - 10am the following day.

Reporting to the Crisis Response Team Leader you will be responsible for providing vital face-to-face and phone support for women and children who are currently experiencing family violence.

This support includes:

  • Conducting needs assessments
  • Safety planning & risk assessments
  • Referring clients to other services internally and externally
  • Creating a safe avenue for support and referrals
  • Women, non-binary folk, and first nations peoples are encouraged to apply.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Utilise the MARAM framework to conduct comprehensive risk assessments, needs assessment, and safety planning for victim survivors.
  • Provide immediate responses to victim survivors in crisis and those with immediate comfort and safety needs
  • Respond to victim-survivors accessing the service and accept and respond to referrals from external agencies in accordance with relevant program guidelines and policies.
  • Refer victim-survivors at high and extreme risk of family violence to the RAMP program and provide case management in consultation with RAMP Senior Case Managers where appropriate.
  • Ensure client critical incidents are managed and documented as per GenWest policy and procedures and DFFH critical incident instructions.
  • Ensure program data (SHIP) is collected to inform program planning and to meet data recording requirements of DFFH and the GenWest board.
  • Provide case management support to clients awaiting refuge provision

Suitable candidates will possess:

  • Case management experience of family violence victim survivors
  • A strong knowledge of family violence sector reform and legalities
