First Nations Women’s Legal Services Qld (“FNWLSQ”) is a community-controlled community legal centre based in Townsville and Palm Island. As a community legal centre, FNWLSQ provides legal services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Townsville, Palm Island and outreach to other regional areas of North Queensland.

The Operations Manager is responsible for:

  • The effective and efficient functioning of day to day operations including office management, management of staff, workplace health and safety and cultural safety for staff and clients
  • Accreditation
  • Monitoring and managing reporting to funders and funding contract management with the CEO
  • Business performance and business operations including business contract management
  • Monitoring and contributing to the FNWLSQ webpage
  • Overseeing staff projects and assisting with organising and resourcing community events
  • Reviewing, managing and overseeing Registers including Compliance Register, Incident Register and Risk Register
  • Managing and following up on incidents in the Incident Register
  • Providing line management, supervision and support for administrative officers, contractors and external service providers, including IT provider, as required
  • Moderating Facebook page
  • Supporting policies and procedures
  • Supporting initiatives to improve existing systems, processes and people
  • Developing operational systems and processes and continuously seeking opportunities to improve existing ways of working including through technological improvements

  • Strong numeracy skills and commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of challenges facing First Nations women and communities
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work as a team member and with a high degree of autonomy
  • Strong computer and IT literacy skills
  • Common sense and a sense of humour
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills and ability to come up with creative solutions
  • Previous experience in leadership demonstrating creativity, adaptability, energy, enthusiasm and the desire to grow

Qualifications, experience and mandatory requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s
  • Experience designing and operating within an outcomes framework to demonstrate impact
  • Demonstrated experience in operations management and administration
  • Strong information management and change management experience
  • Previous experience in providing inspirational leadership for a team and/or organisation
  • Working with Children Card
  • Driver’s License

Salary: Level 6.1-7.1 Social, Community, Homecare and Disability Award Salary range: $102,546 - $110,907. Salary Sacrifice packaging available.
