The Role - Planned Giving Specialist

Join a small team focussed on offering a memorable, personalised journey for supporters looking to leave a bequest gift to Wesley Mission.

This established fundraising program is in a phase of proactive growth. The role of Planned Giving Specialist will suit an experienced bequest fundraiser who can deliver ongoing multi-touchpoint relationship management activities to a portfolio of confirmed and prospective gift-in-will supporters.

Day to day you will speak with supporters on the phone, face to face and via text or email, depending on their preferences, nurturing relationships through to confirmed gifts and beyond.

You will report to the Individual Giving Manager, where you’ll be encouraged to bring your ideas for improvement and innovation and be supported in your proactive approach to growing your portfolio. With a structured pipeline and prospect management process, you will meet activity KPIs monthly, working towards developing meaningful relationships.

You will build awareness of the Planned Giving program through developing external relationships with solicitors, independent living villages, community, and congregational groups. You will be driven by the opportunity to share the work of Wesley Mission and the impact that leaving a legacy gift could have.

Responsibilities

  • Develop communication strategies for prospective Gift-in-Will supporters
  • Build relationships with individuals interested in supporting Wesley Mission through online bequest platforms
  • Steward existing Gift-in-Will supporters and maintain ongoing engagement and supporter journey through multiple touchpoints
  • Develop and manage campaigns that progress donors along the Gifts-in-Will pipeline
  • Work with the team to develop engaging supporter-related events

Your Skills & Attributes

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Gift-in-Wills or relationship-based philanthropy role
  • High levels of empathy & the ability to be sensitive to supporter needs
  • Proficient in utilising a CRM system to securely & accurately manage supporter information
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills
  • Confident presenting to groups of people
  • High EQ coupled with confidence to convert a prospect to a confirmed supporters
  • Experience in developing marketing materials and/or copywriting for supporter communications
  • Commitment to understanding policies, rules & legislations that govern fundraising
  • Commitment to best practice working & influencing process improvement

Desirable:

  • Experience with estate administration
  • Experience managing or contributing to phone or direct mail campaigns
