About the team

The Finance team sits within the Finance, Strategy & Operations (FSO) Division. The FSO Division supports CCNSW's strategic ambition by enabling and facilitating the building of a future ready and sustainable organisation.

About the role:

The Finance Business Partner provides management accounting support in the Finance unit and to divisions across the organisation. This role leads the financial management requirements for business units assigned to this role. The role provides reporting, analysis and support for financial modelling of projects.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Monthly Reporting

  • Work with Manager, Financial Accounting to close month end within agreed deadlines and ensure all relevant entries posted in the GL
  • Prepare monthly reports and insights for Executive Leadership Team (ELT)
  • Prepare reporting and supporting insights for Audit Risk Committee and the Board as per agreed timelines
  • Full Time Equivalent reporting and analysis

Quarterly Forecasts

  • Accountable for accurate and timely development of forecast input templates for managers / staff with financial responsibilities, taking into account business and user needs
  • Provision of forecast training to managers with financial responsibilities
  • Provision of advice and support to directors, managers / staff with financial responsibilities during the quarterly forecasting process
  • Ability to critically review, challenge and negotiate with managers on their original forecast estimates to ensure accuracy
  • Preparation of quarterly forecast financial reports for ELT, and the Board.

Annual Budget (approx. $90M)

  • Develop input templates for managers / staff with financial responsibilities, taking into account business and user needs
  • Development of training resources and provision of training to managers / staff with financial responsibilities
  • Provision of financial / budgeting advice and support to directors, managers / staff with financial responsibilities during the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Works in team with other business partners but is directly responsible for the preparation and accuracy of allocated budget areas
  • Ability to critically review, challenge and negotiate with managers on their original budgets to ensure organisational accuracy
  • Salary budget reporting and analysis
  • Monthly staff cost allocations and recharges calculations and analysis
  • Preparation of financial budget reports for CFO, ELT, ARC and Board.
  • Ability to adjust writing style dependent on the audience
  • Completion of all tasks assigned in budget plan by due dates and with a high degree of accuracy

Financial Reporting – IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)

  • Design and develop financial reports for business users / managers to meet needs in consultation with end users
  • Accountable for accuracy of management reports

Business Partnering

  • Critically analysing business areas as identified
  • Full analysis of business area, systems, processes and drivers, identification of key findings, recommendations and ability to influence business units outcomes and decisions
  • Critically review and evaluate ongoing business processes to streamline processes and generate efficiencies through system enhancements and design
  • Review business cases and assist in the completion of the financials
  • Conduct “deep dive” analysis as directed by CFO or Director
  • Proactive engagement in preparation of forecasts and annual budgets to meet organisational targets
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and provide financial advice that is relied upon in making decisions

Other

  • Adhere to all CCNSW internal policies and external legislations i.e Privacy Act, PCI Compliance, Charitable Fundraising Act requirements, financial controls etc.
  • Contribute to the documentation of internal policies and processes.

About you

Essential:

  • Post Graduate Accounting qualifications i.e. CPA, CA, or CIMA
  • Tertiary Degree in Commerce, Business, Economics or similar
  • 5+ years post qualifications in a medium / large sized organisation
  • Advanced MS Office / Excel skills including macros
  • Demonstrated user experience with BI software systems (preferably IBM Cognos TM1)
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills, including report writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and influence at all levels within the organisation
  • Strong commercial focus
  • Ability to question status quo
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Adaptable, proactive, and can-do attitude
  • Ability to work to deliver on deadlines, with a high degree of accuracy.

Desirable:

  • Previous exposure in a Not for Profit organisation
  • Formal training or exposure to Financial Management theories and practices
  • Experience in IBM Planning Analytics (TM1 OLAP tool)
  • Experience in Technology One Business Financials which is the accounting platform in place.
