Looking for a job with purpose and flexible work days? Interested in joining a small, friendly and high capacity team and you have a leadership, management, marketing, product development, or nonprofit business background? Then this job might be for you.
Give Freedom International envisions a world free from human trafficking and exploitation, where every person is able to reach their potential. We have been in a formative business development period and are rapidly transitioning into an established charity. Give Freedom International is based primarily in Newcastle, NSW—our team predominantly works remotely so we would welcome applicants from all locations. A candidate who is Newcastle or capital city based is highly desirable.
Our mission is to partner with communities at risk of human trafficking to deliver life-changing and sustainable development projects. The current goal of Give Freedom International is to complete The Pokhara Project for our Field Partner, 3 Angels Nepals, in Pokhara. The Pokhara Project is a sustainable building development that includes a self-funding school, women’s safe haven, vulnerable children’s homes, a community medical centre and vocational training facilities.
Our core values are integrity, people, positivity, respect and excellence. Visit our website for more information here: givefreedom.org.au.
We are seeking expressions of interests for a part-time high capacity Managing Director with previous non-profit experience to join our team.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this position provides strategic leadership and oversees all operational aspects of Give Freedom International. The Managing Director is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operational and supervisory business functions, with a focus on developing, executing and implementing the strategic business plan.
With the recent launch of our core major donor products, Give Freedom is entering a new strategic phase to effectively engage current and prospective major donors through tailored pitches. Alongside the board of directors, this role will assist in new department development of Give Freedom's Partnerships area to facilitate our operational and strategic goals. Development of a partnership area framework and implementation strategy is Give Freedom’s next strategic area.
Leading a small operational team, this role involves elements of leadership and strategy, alongside practical and technical tasks across marketing, operations, finance, partnerships and program—a strong generalist with good non-profit operational knowledge and a keen interest in developing the partnerships area would be an ideal fit.
The Managing Director has strong analytical, managerial, communication and leadership skills. Key roles include:

Highly Desirable
This is a part-time (3-4 days per week), sole trader (ABN required) contract position, which is paid at a fixed hourly rate for hours worked. Although this role is a contract position, the intention is this is an ongoing long-term position that is reviewed annually.
As the operational team works part-time—predominantly from Tuesday to Thursday—this role would suit a highly experienced candidate looking for flexibility around other commitments such as business or family, as the specifics of days/hours worked can be negotiated or worked flexibly as required.
This position requires a limited amount of travel to meet prospective donors, attend an annual Newcastle-based Foundation dinner in March, and potential field partner trips.
As this is a core role within our small team, we are specifically looking for a candidate with the right competency, team chemistry, character and capacity. The job will be advertised until the right candidate is found.
