The Opportunity

Junction Australia is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Practitioner - Family Based Care to join our team in Adelaide. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the lives of foster children and young people by empowering our foster carers through trauma-responsive training, clinical consultation, and comprehensive support. Your expertise will not only enhance the capacity of our foster carers but also elevate our service delivery to new heights, ensuring every decision and action is rooted in empathy and informed by best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Empower and train a dedicated team of FBC staff and foster carers, leading them with innovative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Navigate and manage complex cases with professionalism and insight, providing expert guidance and co-working where necessary.
  • Craft and oversee the implementation of personalised, culturally sensitive care plans that truly resonate with the needs of children and young people.
  • Champion continuous improvement by steering research initiatives, shaping policy development, and evaluating programs to adapt and thrive.
  • Ensure our practices comply with rigorous standards and regulations, embodying excellence in every facet of your work.

We are seeking a person who:

  • Is skilled in culturally sensitive practices, adept at working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Has experience in foster care, including assessment and case management, particularly for children and young people affected by trauma, abuse, or neglect.
  • Is proficient in social work and trauma-informed therapies, with abilities in planning, interventions, risk assessment, training, and supervising.
  • Has strong documentation skills, ensuring clinical records are maintained and completed consistently and accurately.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with children, young people, colleagues, and external partners; knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements.

You Will Need To:

  • Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
  • Undertake rostered on-call responsibilities as needed
  • Willing to work occasional flexible hours to meet operational requirements
