The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our family. Reporting to the Interim Financial Controller and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will manage financial reporting and finance operations, this includes the improvement of the existing financial processes to ensure timely and accurate processing, reporting and analysis of financial information, and provide insights to the budgeting and forecasting process.

About our role

You will be responsible for:

  • Monthly financial reporting, review of income and expenditures, and preparation of management reports.
  • Working closely with the Financial Controller and CFO, and conduct analysis for variances between actual and budget results.
  • Preparation of monthly Endowment Fund Financial Statement.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the organisation to investigate budget variances and present to senior management in written reports supported by analytic insights.
  • Preparation of the Finance team Budget, including but not limited to, forecasting of interest and dividend income, depreciation, and amortisation.
  • Manage and act as the administrator of the management reporting tool (BOARD), and work with key stakeholders (e.g. external consultant, internal IT team, and users of the applications).
  • Review payment files and act as the first signatory on all payments and transfers.

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • CA / CPA qualification
  • Accounting tertiary qualification
  • Sound experience in Finance and Accounting
  • Team management and ability to develop robust relationships across the organisation
  • Delivery of timely and accurate monthly financial and board reporting packs and insights
  • Advanced MS Excel skills with a proven track record in working with large and complex spreadsheets
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check
