This is a full-time closed period contract until 31st January 2025, working across a 24/7 roster. Located in Campbelltown NSW. 

About the opportunity

Uniting is seeking an experienced Residential Youth Caseworker to join our team in Campbelltown NSW.  As a Youth Caseworker at Doorways for Youth SWS, you'll join a passionate team dedicated to supporting young people (aged 18-24) experiencing homelessness.

Your role involves providing day-to-day support, case management, and post-follow-up care within our crisis accommodation program. Through individualised, strengths-based approaches, you'll empower young people to navigate immediate challenges and work towards sustainable living arrangements.

  • Report to the Doorways for Youth residential coordinator and adhere to Child Protection laws.
  • Offer crisis support, advocacy, intake assessments, and referrals within the community.
  • Foster living skills development and provide ongoing support to enhance independence.
  • Deliver client-centred, trauma-informed case work addressing various issues.
  • Build therapeutic relationships to meet accommodation and social needs.
  • Collaborate with agencies and develop accommodation options for young people.
  • Engage in community activities, feedback mechanisms, and service improvement.
  • Maintain client records, participate in training, and support program development.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences and relevant case work experience with young people.
  • Understanding of homelessness issues, First Nations' experiences, and LGBTQIA+ needs.
  • Proficient in case planning, assessments, referrals, and advocacy.
  • Strong communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and willingness to learn data collection tools.
  • Flexible schedule, valid driver's license, and access to a vehicle (if required).
  • Current NSW WWCC
  • Current first aid certificate (desired)
