The Manager is responsible for the management of a 24 hour work environment over 7 days of the week. This includes overseeing quality and safety processes, staffing, rostering, risk assessment and mitigation and ongoing program development.
Based in Eltham, the Manager of the Birribi Residential Rehabilitation unit has a critical role in the development of business intelligence and identification of emerging trends that enable the delivery of high quality and clinically safe services and evidence based decision making within the organisation. The Manager holds a formal leadership role and therefore is responsible for inspiring a shared vision, modelling a values based approach, and creating a culture in which new ways of working are encouraged and enabled.
At YSAS more generally, each Manager leads a multidisciplinary team, delivering collaborative and innovative programs and responsive services to young people across their delivery area.
Each YSAS Manager has responsibility for overseeing day to day operational management; coordination and implementation of supervision and support to staff (especially in the areas of crisis intervention, assessment, intensive case management) Additional responsibilities include the development and maintenance of service infrastructure, relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ongoing review and refinement of programs within their remit.
The Manager is considered a role model to staff and young people and should demonstrate consistently professional behaviour at all times. Your key responsibilities will include:

<li>Manage Birribi Residential Rehabilitation unit and ensure that the services delivered compliment the overall service delivery within YSAS.</li>
<li>Lead the provision of clinical oversight of the Birribi Residential Rehabilitation unit</li>
<li>Ensure the delivery of sensitive and effective practices to meet the needs of YP, carers and staff</li>
<li>In collaboration with the General Manager Residential Units and Primary Health Services, to provide high quality budgetary and resource management for the unit.</li>
<li>Liaise and consult with service providers, agencies and Government Departments including liaison with all other stakeholders as required</li>
<li>Lead the development of policies and standard operational procedures relating to residential units.</li>

This position is part of the Victorian Government's response to offences committed by young people. The role will support the young person and their family in consultation with a number of other consortium partners in diverting the young person from criminal behaviour. It is a dynamic role and involves intensive casework and family focused intervention in an outreach capacity.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
<ul>
<li>Highly developed engagement and communication skills with young people who are experiencing multiple and complex social disadvantages (especially criminogenic needs) and a demonstrated ability to motivate them to develop and achieve their goals.</li>
<li>Skills in engaging and working with young people (and their families), ranging from frontline advocacy, conducting assertive outreach, case management, and family focused interventions to achieve practical and meaningful outcomes.</li>
<li>Ability to conduct assessments (health and well-being, risk situations), formulate interventions, develop and implement case plans based in evidence and aligned to Resilience based practice.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability and experience in working with families.</li>
<li>Ability to navigate complex statutory systems to achieve positive outcomes and diversions for young people. Additionally, a demonstrated ability to engage families into a positive support role for their children who are involved in complex legal processes.</li>
<li>Highly developed written communication skills with an ability to fulfil the administrative requirements of the role.</li>

<h3>About the position</h3>
As a member of a small team, the Youth AOD Outreach Worker provides direct service activities, crisis intervention, assessment, case work / case management services and ongoing support to minimise the harm of alcohol and other drug use to the young person. Youth AOD Outreach workers are required to work independently across a range of areas with support from the team and supervisor. To succeed in this role, you will need:
<ul>
<li>Experience in working with young people presenting with complex needs in an outreach capacity, especially issues related to problematic alcohol and drug use.</li>
<li>Demonstrated understanding of the principals and practice of harm minimisation orientated treatment and prevention interventions, as well as knowledge of contemporary approaches to youth drug treatment.</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and ability to practice a range of interventions including complex assessments, case work / case management approaches, care planning and review, advocacy, group work, crisis intervention and collaborative outreach based service delivery.</li>
<li>Highly developed engagement and communication skills with young people from a range of backgrounds (including cultural awareness) and age groups; including the ability to model appropriate behaviours and motivate young people.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience of co-operative and collaborative work practices with other service providers (e.g. Youth Justice, Victoria Police, Child Protection, Out of Home Care providers) and community groups; including well developed liaison and networking skills.</li>
<li>Demonstrated skills in written communication, including report writing, case notes and data recording.</li>
