About the opportunity

Primary Health Tasmania has a unique opportunity for an experienced procurement specialist to join our small but high performing team as a Lead – Procurement and Contracts. Our procurement team is part of our Business & Finance business unit servicing the requirements for both our corporate and program delivery teams.

We are not in the business of manufacturing, logistics or capital works and do not deliver direct clinical services. So, what makes this opportunity unique? We commission (strategically procure) services in primary health care, health system changes and improvements, small grants programs, and more. We are also expanding into new ways of working with the introduction of our Business Process Management Office (BPMO).

The BPMO includes rolling out our new Business Management Centre which is leading the way to automate business processes at Primary Health Tasmania starting with procurement and contracting. This is a growth area for this team as we continue strengthening and enhancing high quality procurement and contracting process outcomes.

What would you be doing

You will work closely with Manager – Procurement to provide technical support and will lead certain tendering and contracting processes as well as providing guidance to the organisation with the administration of procurement and contracting activities.

You will be supporting whole of business, incorporating procurement and related contracts for corporate, health systems improvement, planning as well as commissioning teams.

Here's what you’ll look like

  • You’ll have a relevant tertiary qualification preferably in business or finance and/or demonstrated experience in a role with procurement and/or contracting responsibilities.
  • You’ll have experience in administrating tenders using an electronic tender system (e.g. Tenderlink).
  • You will have strong written and verbal skills and are confident to produce high quality documentation relating to procurement activities.
  • You will have the ability to maintain confidentiality, assess risk, use discretion and judgement.
  • You are agile, solutions focussed, have an understanding of good business process and be able to think creatively with experience managing change.
  • You will work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a team, including the ability to coordinate activities and collaborate with peers and contribute to high-performance of the organisation.
  • You will have demonstrated organisational skills and ability to work with limited supervision and to meet deadlines, including the capacity to work with competing priorities.
  • You will use your initiative to identify, contribute to and apply continuous improvements within procurement and contracting functions.
