Purpose of role:
Contribute to the vision and purpose of SJCS through the design and delivery of a fundraising strategy that achieves SJCS’ annual budget, and expands and enhances the positive impact of SJCS in the community.
Key Result Areas
- Fundraising Strategy
- Develop and implement a diversified, sustainable fundraising strategy in accordance with SJCS vision, purpose and values
- Manage and expand effective fundraising relationships through community partnerships and programmes
- Develop and implement a donor relationship strategy to improve and expand existing relationships with corporate, church, school and individual donors
- Drive continuous improvement of existing fundraising programmes
- Contribute to financial planning and budgeting process, including forecasting and analysis of returns on fundraising activities
- Deliver year-on-year increase in revenue
- Work collaboratively with SJCS management and Board to achieve the objectives of the organisation
- Fundraising & Community Engagement Execution
- End-to-end design and delivery of annual ‘Roughtober’ fundraising program, including flagship sleepout events
- Oversee Management of Urban Exposure program, working with schools and other groups to increase awareness and understanding of issues facing marginalised urban communities in Sydney
- Manage all fundraising and educational activities, working collaboratively with team members and volunteers
- Manage the design, creation and distribution of promotional materials including press releases, newsletters, and Annual Report
- Maintain & enhance website and social media platforms
- Identify and apply for suitable grants •Contribute to the ongoing positive perception of SJCS in the community
- Fundraising Administration
- Maintain accurate information on all fundraising plans and activities
- Maintain an accurate CRM database
- Provide insightful analysis and reporting to SJCS management and Board on a regular basis to support organisational decision making
- Oversee timely and accurate provision of tax receipts to donors
- Ensure efficient, timely and accurate booking process, invoicing and payment for Urban Exposure
Skills and Attributes
- Strategic thinker, able to balance short- and long-term goals and objectives
- Proven ability to meet fundraising targets
- Strong event management and organisational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in a dynamic not-for-profit environment preferred
- Self-motivated, able to work autonomously with a strong sense of accountability

- Ability to engage with a broad variety of people
- Contribute to the Christian ethos of St John’s Community Services through identifying spiritual needs of clients and volunteers, leading others in prayer and writing prayer newsletters to members and supporters
- A genuine interest and sensitivity towards working with marginalised communities
- Technologically savvy, systems thinker, proficient in using Microsoft Office, databases, and CRM software
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, fundraising or a related field are desirable but not essential
