The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer child focused programs and parenting services, counselling, support, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

This role within The Salvation Army - Samaritan Women and Children Services (SWACS) provides single women and women with their accompanying children to feel safe to enable connection for their return to the community. Working with individuals and children leaving domestic and family violence we offer opportunities for families to heal and be assisted into safe independent housing, immigration, education, employment and training as individuals and families work to re-establish choice, self-worth and confidence in a trauma informed environment, empowering people to move forward in their lives and make positive choices.

THE ROLE

The SWACS' team, located throughout Sydney, assists by providing supported accommodation options to women and children at risk or experiencing domestic and family abuse, addiction, mental health, Visa or immigration issues, child protection assistance programs and housing crisis to find secure housing and reconnect with community.

We are currently seeking a full time facilitator to join our dynamic, committed team with a passion for working with families and CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a full time position, 38 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Crisis Accommodation level 2.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, rehabilitation counselling, early childhood education or development or other relevant areas
  • Established knowledge & understanding of family and domestic abuse, homelessness, relevant health, addiction & welfare issues and appropriate intervention strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in working with families and women with trauma and in particular child focused case management
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written, verbal, listening & networking skills, & the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated computer literacy for use in client work & other documentation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of rapid rehousing strategic responses to ending homelessness
  • Willingness to work within a Trauma Informed / Power, Threat Meaning Framework
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Empathy and knowledge of The Salvation Army's principles & ethos
  • NSW class C driver's license
  • Working with Children Check
  • Ability to prove work eligibility in Australia
