About the role

Part Time 4 days/week fixed term contract until 30 June 2025 with potential for extension. Based in Canberra and reporting directly to the National Manager Dementia Advocates Program you will be responsible for:

  • Building collaborative relationships with Dementia Advocates (people living with dementia and care partners) that support positive policy and service change
  • Linking Dementia Advocates to places where decisions are being made, ensuring their stories are heard and promoted to government, media, services, fundraising and policy
  • Engaging with and building the capacity of communities to be inclusive of and value the contributions of people living with dementia
  • Supporting the National Dementia Australia Advisory Committee (DAAC). The DAAC is a formal committee of people living with dementia who provide strategic advice to Dementia Australia and other stakeholders on shaping dementia services, programs, policy development and systemic advocacy.
  • Representing Dementia Australia on committees and at inquiries relating to issues pertinent to people living with dementia, their families and carers
  • Maintaining and coordinating key administrative processes.

Leave allowances: In addition to an annual leave allowance of 20 days (pro-rated if part-time), you will also receive three days paid end of year closure leave, one day paid birthday leave, up to six weeks parental leave and 17.5% annual leave loading.

Work/life balance: Flexible, hybrid work arrangements. Option to WFH 2 days/week.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following:

  1. A tertiary qualification in public health policy, community development, consumer engagement, social work or other relevant discipline.
  2. Understanding of consumer engagement frameworks and importance of elevating the consumer voice to influence change.
  3. Proven capacity to facilitate groups, gather information, analyse data and prepare reports
  4. Builds, fosters and sustains collaborative relationships (internally and externally).
  5. Understands and uses available technologies and information to maximise efficiencies.
  6. Uses effective time management skills to plan, evaluate and organise work demands.
