About the Role

Barnardos are looking for a full-time Case Manager for the Temporary Family Care Program for a 12 month contract, based at the South Coast Barnardos Centre, Warrawong. The TFC program case manages children in the interim PRM care space and aims to achieve permanency for children in the program. Carers in the TFC space only care for children in the short term (up to 2 years) and are skilled at providing a high level of support to children. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Case Manager will be responsible for;

  • Providing case management to short term foster carers and kinship carers for children aged 0-8 ensuring their educational, health, identity and other needs are met to a high standard.
  • Completing work in the area of Family Restoration, Preservation and if unable to achieve reunification, to assist in locating permanent family-based care solutions for children including Kinship care and Permanent/Open Adoptive care.
  • Complete court work (Affidavits) and other high quality written material to provide exemplary support to children, carer and parents.

About You

To be successful in the Case Manager role, you will ideally have;

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Social Welfare related discipline or substantial progress to gaining such qualification.
  • Knowledge of child development and childhood developmental trauma.
  • Knowledge of parenting support and capacity building.
  • Knowledge of the current NSW legislation regarding the care and protection of children and young people.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context and meeting Child Safe Standards within an Out of Home care context.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing plans for children, ensuring plans reflect principles of permanency planning, Aboriginal placement principles and participation .
  • Be flexible to undertake some out-of-hours work, which may include restoration work, crisis response, training, case reviews or foster carer assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience in parent coaching and family time service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience of using electronic case management tool
  • A current driver’s license, ability to participate in 24 hour on call roster and the ability to work in a flexible manner, including occasional after hours, when required.

Salary: Base $66,393 to $82,571 plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.
