About the Role

Barnardos are looking for a full-time permanent Program Manager for the Kinship Team based at the Barnardos Centre in Bruce, ACT.

Reporting to the Manager – the Program Manager, will be responsible for;

  • Managing a team of up to six Case Managers / Case Workers who in turn provide child-focused therapeutic support to a designated cohort of children and young people in their care, ranging in age from 0-17 years, who are placed in short or long-term foster or kin care
  • Providing leadership and oversee the development of a cohesive, functional and focused team and be responsible for performance management in relation to case practice
  • Taking primary responsibility for the training and assessment of Foster/Kin carers ensuring that the ongoing recruitment, support and training of foster and kin carers is managed effectively and to a high standard
  • Being prepared to carry a mobile telephone/pager system and participate in providing 24-hr cover in order to respond to crises when required

About You

To be successful in the Program Manager role, you will ideally have:

  • Relevant tertiary degree-level qualifications in the provision of protective support and service delivery to children and young people and their families
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide advice on complex case management matters/issues and to coach others who also provide such advice
  • Working knowledge of relevant child protection and related legislation
  • Demonstrated experience of and capacity to provide leadership, direction, supervision and support to staff who are providing complex case management for children and young people who are in foster or kin care
  • Demonstrated understanding of the special needs of children in disadvantaged families through past experience of working in a Case Manager or similar role
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality training programs, utilising multiple delivery methods, to a wide audience, in the field of children and young people at risk and the OOHC sector in general
  • A current unrestricted drivers licence

Salary: Base $92,002 to $109,161 plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
