About the role

We are seeking a number of dedicated sessional Counselling lecturers who are passionate about their field and teaching the next generation of professionals.

Sessional Lecturers must be willing to teach on-campus and online at one of our campuses in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Byron Bay and Perth. Classes can include tutorials, intensive workshops, and recorded lectures in addition to engaging with students through online forums. They will also be required to mark assignments and perform and administrative tasks associated with the classes they teach.

Sessional Lecturers will be engaged on a full-time or part-time basis for a specified period. In exceptional circumstances, they may be required to assume the role of Unit Coordinator.

The sessional Counselling Lecturers will teach into undergraduate programs (AQF 7) and, where an established record of relevant professional experience is evidenced, postgraduate programs (AQF 8-9). Sessional Lecturers will normally work with guidance from permanent academic staff.

Essential qualifications for the candidates

  • A Counselling qualification or a qualification from an appropriate cognate discipline, at least Masters, and preferably Doctorate, Level (PhD candidates will be considered)
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association such as PACFA, ACA, or equivalent.

  • Experience working in a tertiary education institution
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with all levels of the College
  • Excellent scholarly expertise and/or industry expertise
  • Breadth of Counselling industry expertise
  • Student-focused approach

  • Proficiency in the use of industry specific software/hardware and processes
  • Excellent understanding of transferable skills
