The Position

Due to the retirement of the highly respected incumbent, we are recruiting a Deputy Chief Executive Officer to join the College. Please note this is a full-time fixed-term (3-year contract) position based in Melbourne, Australia. We are seeking a distinctly motivated and collaborative individual with a strong background and extensive knowledge in specialist adult education, preferably gained in a medical environment, to lead, guide and coach two Executive Directors responsible for the pillars of Education and Training. The primary purpose of the role is to coordinate the strategic development of the education and training initiatives and programs, in addition to supporting and overseeing the effective and efficient implementation of activities as identified through the ACEM strategic and business plans.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and acting in the role in the CEO’s absence, or when required, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. You will have the drive and commitment to achieve results and lead your team to success whilst working closely with the Board, Council of Education, internal and external stakeholders. The role is also responsible for providing oversight of Commonwealth Department of Health funded programs, including the Emergency Medicine Education and Training Program (EMET), the Specialist Training Program-Independent Rural Training Program (STP-IRTP) and other constituent programs.

This is an integral role within the College and requires an individual with initiative, excellent communication and presentation skills and a continuous improvement lens. Demonstrated experience in curriculum analysis, design, delivery and implementation, including online/distance education and training; recognition of international qualification; accreditation programs, training, research analysis, reporting and monitoring are essential as is the proven ability to lead, manage and mentor high performing and multi-disciplined teams.
