About the role

In the Transition to Work (TTW) Program, we believe work is more than receiving a pay cheque. Work provides people with a sense of purpose and sense of self. We're passionate about supporting young people who have become disengaged from education or the employment and working with them to reach their full potential. We provide intensive, pre-employment support to improve the work-readiness of young people and help them into the workforce (including apprenticeships and traineeships) or education. We also work with employers to ensure young people meet their needs and are supported to settle into jobs. We use creative and fun activities to engage and build the capacity of our young people.

The Team Leader will be responsible for leading the day-to day service delivery of TTW, supervising a medium sized team to ensure quality client outcomes. The Team Leader will report to the Program Manager and will be required to assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff, staff training and development and managing the team's performance through monitoring work quality and output.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum Bachelor level qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related tertiary qualification and significant relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge and/or experience of the Transition to Work program area and employment services
  • 2+ approx. years' experience as a people leader
  • Prior experience and success in leading others in the delivery of employment services
  • Experience in conducting (with the support of more senior leaders and/or People and Culture) performance management with team members
  • Demonstrated communication strengths in the areas of; interpersonal sensitivity, communicating sensitive information effectively, conducting difficult conversations in an empathetic and authentic manner
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to build and foster a high-performance team culture
  • A thorough understanding of the barriers experienced by young people when accessing employment and education; Child Safety principles; NSW mandatory reporting legislation; Youth Work Code of Ethics and awareness of the Advantage Thinking Framework.

  • Full time, fixed term parental leave position available until 30 June 2022, based in our Corrimal and Shellharbour locations!
  • $82,700 base salary + 9.5 % superannuation ($90,500 approx. package) + NFP salary packaging options (more after tax $ in your pocket!)
