About Us

The Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO) is a vibrant, values driven NFP, focused on partnering with Government and the community to co-design services that create real social change. We are an organisation with a bold vision to create a safe and inclusive community where prison truly is the last resort. Our purpose is to strengthen the wellbeing of our communities by advocating for and delivering services which divert people away from the justice system.

About the program and the role

The Youth Outreach Recovery Service (YORS) supports young people (16-25 years) who are experiencing mental health symptoms and other complex needs across Loddon Mallee who require psychosocial outreach support pre- and post- entry to a Youth Residential Rehabilitation (YRR) service, or as an alternative to a YRR placement.

The Youth Psychosocial Recovery Worker will work closely alongside client care teams (including, Mental Health services, Youth services, Primary Health services) where these are in place to support a collaborative approach to recovery. In the absence of existing care teams, the Youth Outreach Recovery Service Worker will facilitate appropriate referrals to address the young persons' needs.

The role requires the ability to assertively engage young people through a trauma-informed, recovery-based approach. While services are delivered predominantly by outreach and telehealth, other methods of engagement will be employed as preferred by the young person. In addition to providing outreach to a caseload of young people, the Youth Psychosocial Recovery Worker may deliver Bridging, Brief Interventions, and group interventions to those awaiting allocation to the service.
