ABOUT THE JOB...

We are seeking a dedicated In-Home Therapy Worker to join our inclusive, compassionate and friendly team based in Wooloowin, although this position will be required to travel to various locations. This position is casual (approximate hours 5-20 hours per week).

In consultation with the Program Coordinator and Practice Lead, this position will work with children, families and carers in the Individual Support Packages (ISP) Program to embed the therapeutic strategies developed by the Practice Lead and the child’s care team.

About the Individual Support Packages program: The Individual Support Packages (ISP) program works in partnership with Child Safety to provide holistic trauma-informed support to children in the child protection system. The ISP team-work in close collaboration to deliver bespoke support packages informed by each child’s needs and focuses on increasing the capacity of their support network to meet these.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator and Practice Lead, support children and their support network to achieve better outcomes by:

  • Providing attachment-based coaching and role-modelling to carers and stakeholders
  • Supporting families to foster secure attachments with their child, develop appropriate routines and boundaries and support emotional regulation.
  • Delivering activities with the child and family to meet therapeutic goals.
  • Working collaboratively with the ISP practitioners to ensure parenting strategies and child behaviour support, is in line with appropriate child development and parental capacity.
  • Supporting case plan goals as determined by Child Safety and the ISP Practice Lead.
  • Maintain accurate written records of sessions with a child and family.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure behaviour during all work interactions is aligned to our values of being professional, ethical, team oriented, caring, courageous and collaborative.

ABOUT YOU...

Qualifications

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience with enrolment in tertiary studies (social work, human services, allied health, psychologist or equivalent)
  • Professional registration (if required).
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).

Skills and experience

  • At least two years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child development and family functioning.

Knowledge of:

  • Child development and assessing functioning and wellbeing of children and young people who have experienced trauma and cumulative harm.
  • Family functioning, parenting and attachment, including assessing family relationships and parenting capacity and functioning.
  • Supporting foster and kinship carers.
  • Queensland child protection legislation and policy reforms.
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively work families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Other requirements

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
  • Fully vaccinated with the prescribed doses of an approved vaccine against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.

ABOUT THE PAY...

  • Position is classified Level 3 under the SCHCADS award.
  • Salary range is $40.68 - 43.63 per hour plus 10% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time).
