ActNow Theatre is seeking a 0.5FTE (2.5 days a week) First Nations Producer for a 12-month contract.

We are looking for a motivated team player to join our growing staff of artists and arts workers committed to the company's work and values.

The First Nations Producer is responsible for the effective coordination and presentation of First Nations projects, initiatives and events as well as contributing to programs that intersect with First Nations involvement as part of the ActNow Theatre program. In particular, this role will lead on the coordination of the Pathway Program and the First Nations Residency Program. This role requires a sound understanding of the communities which ActNow engages with, particularly First Nations. Experience in logistics, administration and people management desirable, with an interest in and/or experience in the Arts is desirable but not essential.

This role significantly contributes to nurturing and profiling First Nations artists in the arts industry in South Australia, whilst sparking conversation and action around current social issues in Australia and beyond.

Role

The First Nations Producer will coordinate First Nations projects, initiatives and events as well as contribute to programs that intersect with First Nations involvement as part of the ActNow Theatre Program. They will support administration, contribute to program design and delivery, attend events, and contribute to the day to day operations of the company.

Purpose of Role

The First Nations Producer is a key role in supporting ActNow Theatre’s programs that are focused on, or intersect with, First Nations peoples and issues. The role will be an important contact point for First Nations stakeholders and participants, especially young people, and work with actors, volunteers, partners and staff to ensure safe environments that fosters wellbeing. Working closely with the Associate Director, First Nations artists and other company staff, the First Nations Producer will undertake a range of tasks with initial supervision and ongoing mentoring.

The First Nations Producer reports to the Co-CEO + Artistic Director and is required to comply with all approved company policies and legislative requirements relevant to Company activity.
