Council requires a highly motivated and energetic person to provide support to the Executive of Council, liaise with ACT School P&C associations’ volunteers, Education Directorate, political parties and other stakeholders, and manage a small office team.

Council is the peak body for government school parents, and P&C Associations in the Australian Capital Territory, and has promoted parent participation in public education since 1954. Council is a non-profit, non-government representative organisation whose objectives are to foster a quality public education system, provide support services for affiliates and make representations to Government on behalf of parents of Government school students

The Executive Officer is the key management leader of the ACT Council of P&C Associations and is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and the Council’s strategic plan. Other key duties include,

  • secretariat services
  • contractual, regulatory, and statutory obligations
  • fundraising including submissions for grants.
  • financial and budget management
  • advocacy with the Government and other appropriate bodies
  • building relationships and networks with all key stakeholders and the school communities

The position reports directly to the President and Executive Members of the ACT Council of P&C Associations.

This is a permanent part-time position, 20 hours a week (negotiable), within school terms only. Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated.

Position Title: Executive Officer

  • Hours: Permanent part-time 20 hours a week (negotiable), school terms only. Flexible hours negotiable. Night time meetings will comprise some of the weekly hours. Part time work from home arrangements available.
  • Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award [MA000100] level 8.1 (commensurate with experience). 6 months probation period applies.
  • Reports to: President and Council Executive.
  • Location: ACT Council of P&C Offices, Maitland House, 100 Maitland Street, Hackett ACT
