About the role:

Reporting to the Associate Director, ACU Engagement, you will be responsible for the managing and leading of ACU Engagement's mission-focussed outreach programs and activities within the community which provides opportunities for ACU staff, students, and affiliates to contribute to their community. Your key area of responsibility is the provision of leadership and management to one of ACU's flagship community engagement programs, Clemente, which is located within ACU Engagement.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Providing high-level strategic management of ACU Engagement's community-engaged outreach activities
  • Establishing, maintaining, and managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to strategic discussions and providing advice in relation to the setting and monitoring of Outreach goals and the direction of ACU Engagement
  • Promoting and providing community-engaged outreach best practice advice and support to the wider university
  • Managing the Clemente program, a flagship community-engaged outreach program at ACU
  • Providing effective supervision of Clemente staff
  • Functioning effectively and collaboratively as a member of the ACU Engagement management team

You will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in the either Arts and Humanities, Social work, Education, or Counselling or Psychology with experience working in a large and complex organisation; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and/or contributing to university outreach programs. Experience with program management.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective budget management and submission of funding applications either internal or external to a university setting.
  • High-level relationship management and interpersonal skills as well as a proven ability to work collaboratively with staff, community organisations and other external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, using initiative, judgement and discretion to confidently make decisions and to meet business requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working with communities who experience disadvantage using practices that empower and affirm the dignity and strengths of community members.
  • Knowledge of contemporary theory, models, and academic literature concerning best practice university-community engagement.

This position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) (ACT only).

Total remuneration valued to $122,298 - $136,729 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $103,343 - $115,538 (pro rata) pa (HEW 8), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
