The opportunity

An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced DeputyTeam Leader - Paediatric Occupational Therapy to join our team, working with a diverse caseload and an engaged and passionate team of allied health professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a leadership position and with a passion for working with children as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be working closely with the Team Leader to support the development of the Occupational Therapists within the team, and build capability across the service. You will enjoy working on a range of service development initiatives, along with providing supervision and mentoring for other team members.

This is a position where your demonstrated experience as a Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist with leadership experience will be put to full use in developing those around you to thrive. You will maintain a caseload along with contributing to quality improvement, service development and day to day leadership, along with providing mentoring and support for our Paediatric Occupational Therapists.

What you'll do

  • Provide functional, psychosocial and standardised assessments using a range of tools and approaches
  • Design therapy plans that are holistic, centred around a child and family's aspirations and define clear outcomes
  • Work proactively to adapt and maximise each clients environment, reduce barriers, support the development of skills and identify new ways to engage clients and support them to participate and thrive
  • Guide equipment decisions relating to daily activities and assistive technology where appropriate
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with all stakeholders and the ability to use technology and online tools for assessment and reporting
  • Contribute to shaping and growing the service within a dynamic environment
  • In partnership with the Paediatric OT Team Leader, contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the team
  • Clinically supervise Paediatric Occupational Therapists
  • Mentor and support the team on a day to day basis
  • Manage your own reduced caseload independently

Requirements

  • Unrestricted Australian working rights
  • Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Current valid drivers licence & reliable vehicle
  • Ability and willingness to drive as required
  • Extensive experience working within a Paediatrics focused OT position
  • Experience supporting junior clinicians to grow and develop
  • Demonstrated commitment to PD, quality improvement and evidence-based practice
  • 0.8 FTE minimum preferred
