A great opportunity exists to join the Asian Development Bank's Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative (PSDI) as a Communications Assistant.

PSDI is a regional technical assistance facility co-financed by the Government of Australia, the Government of New Zealand, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), based in ADB's Sydney Office. Since 2007, PSDI has worked to alleviate poverty and promote economic growth in the Pacific region through reforms that reduce the constraints to doing business and promote inclusive growth, entrepreneurship, and new business models.

The Communications Assistant will support the delivery of PSDI communications and knowledge management outputs, including:

  • Assist the drafting, editing, production, and dissemination of PSDI publications, including knowledge products and annual progress reports.
  • Assist the drafting, editing, production, and dissemination of PSDI communications and promotional material such as fact sheets, media releases, country updates, newsletters, briefs, and brochures.
  • Assist with the management and content development for PSDI’s digital communications channels including the PSDI website and PSDI’s social media channels.
  • Assist with the maintenance of PSDI’s contacts database.
  • Provide other assistance to the PSDI Communications and Knowledge Manager and the broader PSDI team as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, social sciences, public/business administration.
  • At least 3 years' experience working in communications, public affairs and/or journalism.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including excellent editing skills.
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and recognised as a team player.
  • Ability to work effectively with international and national staff in a multicultural environment.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of private sector development work.
  • Experience in working with one of the major bilateral or multilateral programs operating in the Pacific region.
  • Experience with social media and development communication.

The role is based in the Asian Development Bank's Pacific Liaison and Coordination Office in Sydney, Australia. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia. The role is offered as an initial one year contract.
