The Australian Education Union represents members working in public education in Victoria.

The Leadership Executive Officer (Sectors) is responsible for providing high level, professional, and confidential assistance to the Sector Vice Presidents of the union.

The role works as part of the Leadership workgroup to provide professional and administrative support that ensures the senior leadership roles function effectively in achieving the strategic objectives of the union.

SELECTION CRITERIA

• Demonstrated commitment to unionism.
• Demonstrated commitment to public education and some understanding of the contemporary professional and industrial issues impacting on the education industry and workplaces the AEU represents.
• High level written skills and demonstrated experience in writing correspondence, reports, presentations and briefings.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and public relations skills to enable professional interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders including political representatives, officers of other unions and organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment underpinned by exceptionally strong time management and organisational skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency using common office programs and CRM experience.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Extensive senior experience (minimum 5 years) in working in a similar or relevant position, e.g. political, education or union organisation.
• Tertiary qualifications desirable.
