  • Demonstrated commitment to unionism.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public education and some understanding of the contemporary professional and industrial issues impacting on the education industry and workplaces the AEU represents.
  • High level written skills and demonstrated experience in writing correspondence, reports, presentations and briefings.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and public relations skills to enable professional interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders including political representatives, officers of other unions and organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment underpinned by exceptionally strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using common office programs and CRM experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Extensive senior experience (minimum 5 years) in working in a similar or relevant position, e.g. political, education or union organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications desirable.
