The Essential Services Officer (ESO) is responsible for the maintenance of Power Water and Sewerage infrastructure in the Atitjere (Harts Range) Community Northern Territory, in accordance with Power Water Essential Services agreement. In addition, the ESO is responsible for attending emergency and call out situations.

This role is based in the Atitjere Community, with accommodation to be negotiated.

Duties

As an Essential Services Operator, you will be required to carry out the following duties:

• Maintenance of all power generation, water and sewerage infrastructure
• Regular servicing of power generation units and maintenance of Power Water infrastructure
• Maintain aircraft landing areas (ALA)
• Maintain vehicles, tools, plant and equipment allocated to delivery of the service
• Attend Power Water emergency and after hours call outs, including attending actual or potential interruptions to Essential Services or other critical events
• Attend medical evacuations as required
• Attend to Official Order Requests (OOR) as required
• Quote and assess the scope of any additional works as required
• Develop, supervise and mentor indigenous and relief trainees in the performance of specified duties
• Liaise with Power Water internal and external contractors
• Communicate to a range of stakeholders and provide expert advice on Power Water related matter

Essential Criteria

• Current C Class Drivers Licence
• At least 6 months experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment
• Trade or Trade Assistant Background
• White Card
• Year 10 level of numeracy and literacy

Desirable Qualifications

• Trade qualifications: electrical (restricted or full) or plumbing
• Cert II in Remote Area Essential Services
• Cert II or III in Water Operations
• Operate & Control Liquefied Chlorine Gas Disinfection System
• Operate Breathing Apparatus
• Remote first aid and LV rescue

• Monitor and Operate Hypochlorite Disinfection Processes
• Cert 4 Training and Assessment
• MR and R Class Licence
• Forklift Licence
• Working at Height Certification
• Certificate 2 in Rural Operations or equivalent
