Amicus Community Services is a not for profit provider and charity that has been supporting the needs of vulnerable people and local communities across central Victoria since 1988. We currently provide services to people with a disability of all ages as a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) registered provider, and under the Commonwealth Home Support Program; and children and young people involved with Child Protection and the Out of Home Care system with funding from the Department of Families Fairness and Housing. The services we deliver include direct care and support services in the community and in people’s homes, NDIS Short Term Accommodation and Supported Independent Living, Support Coordination and Behaviour Support Services to name a few. We currently support over 500 participants throughout central and northern Victoria in the local Government Areas of City of Greater Bendigo and shires of Mt Alexander, Macedon Ranges, Central Goldfields, Hepburn, Campaspe and Loddon.

We are entering an exciting period of growth and have recently launched our Strategic Plan 2021-24. We have a number of key positions available that will assist us to implement and achieve planned strategic outcomes for our participants and the communities in which we work

We are currently looking for an experienced Accommodation Manager.

The Role:

The role of Accommodation Manager is crucial to oversee the Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short Term Accommodation (STA) Services and manage consistent with the organisation’s vision, values and strategic goals for the future. The Accommodation Manager is responsible for ensuring that the day to day delivery of the accommodation services meets the expectations of participants, their families and carers, and is compliant with Human rights, NDIS and other legislative requirements. Service expansion and the development of new markets are also key responsibilities of the role. 

Position Purpose: 

The Accommodation Manager will provide leadership to the Accommodation service for an expanding participant base within the fluid environment of the NDIS. The Accommodation Manager will deliver on all Accommodation related aspects of, and contribute to the overall delivery of the organisations’s strategic plan. This will include maintaining financial sustainability, building new services and contributing to a positive culture that supports growth and development. Leading and retaining a strong leadership team, and developing and sustaining productive relationships with stakeholders are key components of this role.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A sound knowledge of the frameworks for the delivery of services to people who choose our support including people with a disability of all ages, young people who are vulnerable and people who are aged.
  • Comprehensive understanding of community networks and relevant legislation, such as the NDIS, DFFH Standards and Child Safe Standards.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the empowerment and rights of people through consistent application of the principles of Person Directed Support to support active and meaningful community participation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership, coaching and mentoring of staff. Will also possess superior operational skills including the ability to lead the day to day management of a dynamic service environment that delivers high quality person directed supports.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of individualised assessment approaches.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Varied and relevant experience in community services with an emphasis on the design of innovative, flexible and holistic individualised supports and associated costings.
  • Broad knowledge of financial processes and guidelines related to individual funding and budgets and high level conceptual and analytical skills to assess and develop same.
  • Knowledge of key reform agendas currently impacting on the community services sector
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • The ability to innovate and develop and provide tailored, flexible, and creative responses to meet the unique needs of people who purchase our services. 
  • Ability to analyses processes and makes recommendations for procedure development and process improvement
  • Strong sector and community networks to support the development and implementation of non-traditional responses 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a range of IT applications including Microsoft Office.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification of Advanced Diploma in a Human Services or related field, or extensive experience in a similar role
  • Cert II First Aid
  • Current Australian issued Driver’s Licence
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain
  • Current Working with Children's Check or willingness to obtain
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate including 3rd booster

Salary 

This position is paid under the SCHADS Award. Salary Packaging and Meals and Entertainment allowance available.
