We are looking for an innovative, inspiring and imaginative Therapeutic Specialist to join the team in Orange.

You are an energetic, motivated Therapeutic Specialist who loves challenges and making a difference in the lives of children and young people who have experienced abuse related harms. You will be passionate about working in a creative and collaborative way in order to engage our young people and their families, and provide clinical assessments and develop therapeutic plans.

As the Therapeutic Specialist, you will:

  • Provide trauma-informed care (bio-psycho-social) assessments, formulation and intervention planning for children and young people who are placed in foster or kinship care
  • Commit to training in the trauma-informed Sanctuary Model and implementing this model of care in day to day work with young people and all members of their Care Team
  • Conduct reflective practice sessions with case managers and carers to support and develop therapeutic responses for children and young people in foster /kin care.
  • Organise and facilitate Care Team and Multi-disciplinary Team meetings to ensure ‘wrap-around' supports are in place to support children and young people achieve safety, permanency and wellbeing
  • Develop networks, consult and partner Aboriginal service providers in the support and healing of Aboriginal children and young people in therapeutic care

What you will need

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or related discipline. (N.B. Candidates that also hold a relevant Postgraduate Qualification will be highly regarded.) Minimum five years' experience in a therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with Children and Young People in OOHC is required. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people is essential.
