The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people and families. We have a particular focus on serving vulnerable communities in the ACT and regional, rural NSW.

Anglicare is delivering the new Permanency Support Program (PSP) -as part of the significant Out of Home Care reforms in NSW. We are seeking a youth worker for the Foster Care and Kinship Care program in Wagga Wagga.

You've worked with young people before, including those with challenging behaviours or with a dual diagnosis. You've got the empathy and perseverance to work alongside those from traumatic backgrounds. You're stoic and determined, quietly passionate. You're not a babysitter - you're a mentor.

You will love this opportunity to directly contribute to the lives of those at risk, as you:

  • Supervise, support and provide trauma-informed therapeutic care for young people with medium to high needs in Intensive Therapeutic Care settings
  • Participate in and maintain day-to-day routines and established therapeutic responses for each young person
  • Work in alignment with the Sanctuary Model Pillars, Anglicare's Values, and Anglicare's Code of Conduct
  • Build caring relationships with young people to support their ongoing safety and developmental well-being including promoting: self-esteem, appropriate health, diet, exercise, hygiene, sexual and personal development

Your practical working experience with children / young people and their families paired with your understanding of Strengths-based and Client-centred Practice will come in handy. Your broad knowledge of NSW Child Protection Legislation and the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care will prove vital, as will your qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work or relevant fields.
