The Anglican Church Southern Queensland (ACSQ), covers more than half a million square kilometres from Bundaberg in north central Queensland, to Coolangatta on the New South Wales border, and west to the borders of South Australia and the Northern Territory.
About four million people live within the Diocesan area, including more than 500,000 Anglicans. In ASCQ, there are approximately 507 clergy across more than 130 parishes. The Clergy form an integral part of the faith community and include archdeacons, canons, priests, deacons, and lay people serving in various ministries.
The Office of Professional Standards is responsible for the establishment and management of Safe Ministry and Child Protection practices. Working in accordance with the values and ethos of the Anglican Church and its Canons, and Codes of Conduct, it supports the operations of the organisation by providing guidance, advice and support across aspects which include investigations, child protection audits and safe ministry training.
The Safe Ministry Adviser position is permanent part time (22.8 hours per week). The role’s purpose includes designing and implementing policies and systems for screening, auditing, compliance, child safe training and the provision of advice. This assists in providing a safe environment for children, young people and vulnerable persons in the Diocese. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant or aligned Tertiary qualification. Candidates from counselling, social work, education, legal or psychology with experience in child protection, working with vulnerable people and safeguarding are encouraged to apply.
