The Role

As a Family Practitioner you will work as part of our Functional Family Therapy - Child Welfare (FFT-CW) team providing support to young people aged between 0-18.

FFT-CW is an evidenced based short-term therapeutic program which aims to provide all carers within a family skills and training in family communication, parenting skills, conflict management and others, with the aim being to improve family communication and dynamics, creating positive and nurturing family environments for Children and Young People.

As an evidenced based program, the effectiveness of this approach has proven to be successful, creating more stable families and reducing the likelihood of Children and Young People entering Out of Home Care.

About you

  • Tertiary Qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or another relevant discipline
  • Experience working with high needs families and an ability to identify needs and risks
  • Experience providing therapeutic intervention or skills such as counselling, CBT or MI
  • Strong communication skills, collaboration skills and ability to work as a part of a bigger team
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with families from a range of backgrounds and cultures
  • Previous experience or an understanding of the OOHC sector would be a benefit

You will be provided with extensive training and support to support your work as part of the evidence based model. FFT-CW training will equip you in delivering specific skills to motivate and engage with families using therapeutic tools.

Successful applicants will also be required to hold a Victorian Drivers License and undergo a Victorian WWCC and Criminal History Check.
