The Position: 

Anglicare Victoria's Financial Counselling program aims to:

  • Deliver high quality Financial Counselling through the provision of information, advice, practical assistance and advocacy intended to stabilise and improve the client’s financial situation.
  • The Family Violence Financial Counsellor will support survivors of family violence/elder abuse to navigate financial crisis, build financial wellbeing, capability and resilience.
  • Facilitate referrals to other services and broader community support services to address client needs.
  • Participation in individual and peer supervision and regular team meetings with team members.

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  • A Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) is highly desirable (or willingness to undertake). Eligibility for membership of the Financial & Consumer Rights Council is required. A qualification or experience in Community Services or other related fields such as Social Work, Mental Health, Legal or Financial will be considered.  
  • An understanding of the impact of environmental factors affecting financial independence on individuals, families and communities.
  • Well-developed verbal and written interpersonal skills.

Please note that on Friday, 7 October 2021, the Victorian Government’s Chief Health Officer issued COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions. As an employer, AV is required to comply with the terms of these directions.  Workers covered in these directions are required to have their first COVID-19 vaccine dose by Friday 15 October 2021 in order to perform work outside of their ordinary place of residence. Further, such workers will also be required to have their second dose by 26 November 2021. Please be aware that this role is covered by the Chief Health Officer’s Directions.

It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
