Anglicare Victoria
  • Work in an evidence based model within Family Preservation and Reunification
  • Provide intensive support based on the needs of children and their families
  • Full-time role, fixed term to June 2022 located at Frankston

About Us:

At Anglicare Victoria our focus is on transforming the futures of children and young people, families and adults. Our work is based on three guiding pillars, Prevent, Protect, and Empower. We offer a comprehensive network of services and seek to ensure the provision of high quality services that will bring about significant improvements in the life experience of the young people, children and families/caregivers with whom we work.

The Position:

Anglicare Victoria (AV) offers flexible and tailored support services as part of the Family Preservation & Reconciliation (FPR) Response, a Department of Families, Fairness & Housing (DFFH) state-wide initiative. FPR supports children and their families in creating a positive and safe environment within the family home, focusing on families remaining together and where children in care can return to reside with their family. The services within the FPR use various approaches including early intervention and assistance strategies, targeted and specialist support and continuing care pathways. AV provides FPR through short-term intensive support services and long-term transitional support services, based on the needs of the children and their families.

The Rapid Response Frankston team compliments the suite of family supports within the FPR model. This program aims to prevent children being placed in Out-of-home care by providing their families with short-term intensive interventions, focused on assisting families to acquire, and build important skills and knowledge, access resources and develop plans that reduce the risk to children.

The role of the Rapid Response Practitioner is:

  • Provide intensive, short-term intervention in the family home at flexible times when they are most receptive to learning that may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Conduct behaviourally specific, interactive and holistic assessment, which includes information of family strengths, problems, needs, values, skills and potential barriers to goal attainment.
  • Provide interventions that support families to achieve goal attainment, and avoid their children being removed and placed in out-of-home care.
  • Work collaboratively with Child Protection, other professionals and families’ and broader social networks to ensure a coordinated support package is in place.
  • Use a variety of behavioural intervention strategies to facilitate behaviour change and role model a variety of teaching methods.
