The Position:

This position is in the Young Parents Project which sits within the Hume Moreland Family and Community Services teams. The project is funded by the Department of Social Services; Communities for Children Program. The Young Parents Project is delivered to parents under the age of 25, with children 0-12, living in the Hume area. The Project has three main components of actively engaging young parents and their children to assess their needs, linking them to community services and providing evidence based group work. These components are aimed at supporting young parents in their parenting role to address their unique needs, develop strong attachments with their children, and build strong community and peer connections. Each component interconnects to provide a flexible and holistic service model, with a focus on young parents from diverse backgrounds

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, Community Development or equivalent /or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level, with a minimum two years’ work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young families who have multiple and complex needs, utilising a child-focused family-centred approach.
  • Demonstrated experience and training in group work facilitation.
  • An understanding of the service system that interfaces with young parents and children, including those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders to reach the best outcomes for young families, including a demonstrated awareness of the Child Information Sharing Scheme, the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and the MARAM Framework.

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.  AV employees are required to either be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 or have a medical exemption. AV will require evidence that you are compliant with these requirements.
