Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) is seeking a digital campaign officer, with the skills required to undertake the role. This includes executing a digital media strategy that builds ANROWS’s profile to distribute national and international research findings on domestic, family and sexual violence, working towards an end to violence against women and their children.

About ANROWS

ANROWS aspires to be an innovative research organisation with authoritative leadership and high impact to support the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010–2022 (the National Plan). Our mission is to deliver relevant and translatable research evidence which drives policy and practice, leading to a reduction in the levels of violence against women and their children.

ANROWS is funded primarily by the Commonwealth and state and territory governments of Australia to assist them in achieving the National Plan’s vision of women and their children living free from violence and in safe communities.

About the position

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) reporting to the Director, Evidence to Action and is located at the ANROWS national office in Sydney (Level 11, 31 Market Street, Sydney NSW 2000). The appointment is for an initial period from commencement until 30 June 2022, with the option to extend, subject to continued funding, beyond that date.

The digital campaign officer will have primary responsibility for executing a digital media strategy that builds ANROWS’s profile as the authoritative voice on research relating to the prevention and reduction of violence against women. This will include developing social media campaigns (including designing collateral) to support the dissemination and take-up of research evidence from ANROWS’s research program, proactively identifying opportunities to build media engagement, and increasing stakeholder engagement across our digital channels.

Remuneration and leave entitlements

The salary range for this position is $83,606 to $88,704 per annum plus 10% employer contributions to the employee’s chosen superannuation fund. ANROWS staff are entitled to four weeks of annual leave, in addition to personal and sick leave and the option for salary sacrificing.

Key responsibilities

  1. Strategic digital campaign planning to support ANROWS’s knowledge translation and exchange (KTE) goals.
  2. Working closely with the Director, Evidence to Action and the KTE team to design and deliver highly engaging, informative and factually correct campaigns from complex research.
  3. Producing/designing campaign collateral suitable for a range of digital platforms.
  4. Developing and maintaining relationships with key media stakeholders and thought leaders in the violence against women sector, acting as a key point of contact for both inbound and proactive media engagement.
  5. Building ANROWS brand recognition and improving stakeholder engagement, including monitoring social analytics, measuring impact and reporting on digital campaigns.
  6. Supporting the Director, Evidence to Action to disseminate the suite of ANROWS products including the biennial National Conference, webinar program, research publications and resources, including fact sheets and research syntheses, as required.

Selection criteria

Essential

  1. Qualifications in media, public relations, communications, journalism, digital marketing or a related discipline.
  2. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information for a range of audiences.
  3. Demonstrated high-level skills and experience in developing and publishing digital content and campaign collateral for web and social media, ideally in research or not-for-profit sectors.
  4. Demonstrated experience and skills in building media and stakeholder engagement.
  5. Skills and experience in campaign planning, management and implementation to achieve specified goals (including time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines and manage competing priorities).
  6. Knowledge of issues relating to violence against women and their children and a commitment to understanding and addressing unique barriers to help-seeking faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse women and children, women with disability, older women, rural women, and people from LGBTQ+ and intersex communities.

Desirable

  1. Experience in developing and delivering podcasts and video content.
