The Impact21 Foundation program is tailored for school leavers with Down syndrome ages 16-22. This program will explore vocational orientation and develop independence through classroom activities, work experience, and civic engagement activities.

The opportunity

Reporting directly to the Lead Digitisation and Employment Program, the Senior Learning Facilitator will provide oversight and coaching to the facilitators within the education phase of the program.

• Oversee professional development of the team and embed best practice into our programs by developing training, coaching and strengths based reflective practice.
• Oversee hybrid pilot whereby online resources are leveraged for enhanced engagement and learning.
• Liaise with Impact21 leadership team and staff for seamless transition into job taster, internship and work placements, ensuring authentic class-based activities further develop employability skills.

Key responsibilites

• Supervise facilitators across Impact21 and Foundation programs
• Liaise with Impact21 Leadership in Melbourne and Bendigo for program consistency
• Undertake class observations, curriculum planning and reporting
• Oversight of participant needs, regular liaison with participants and families as required when immediate response needed
• Liaise with Family and Alumni Liaison for feedback on regular meetings, topics for general discussion
• Oversee participant discovery and assessment
• Manage feedback and program continuous improvement data collection & ensure program updates are communicated to team and monitored
• Assist with hiring & induction of new training staff
• Lead critical reflection and inquiry to improve participants learning
• Participate in activities such as parent meetings; Inclusion Foundation staff meetings; key-stakeholder meetings; and Impact21 team meetings
• Maintain a safe environment and adhere to OH&S policy and procedures
• Work to strict policies and procedures as governed by the Impact21 Foundation program, NDIS, and national teaching standards in Australia
• Undertake other duties, which are appropriate to the level of the position, as directed by the Lead Digitisation and Employment Program

What we are looking for

• Strong experience in coaching teaching staff to adapt curriculum to learner needs and desired outcomes, report for program improvement and participant progress, and incorporate best practice into teaching methodology
• High level of experience in tailored education and an understanding of intellectual disability and the implications for teaching and learning
• Demonstrated knowledge of initiatives in student learning, the development of Individual Educational Plans and the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities
• Strong ability to monitor and assess student learning data using a variety of assessment tools and to use this data to develop resources for improved student learning
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high level of interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with participants and their support networks, and other staff
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning to enable further development of skills, expertise, and teaching capacity
• Demonstrated ability to support the social and personal development of students and an understanding of positive behaviour support
• VIT/teaching registration is not essential but desired
• Current Australian Federal Police clearance, WWCC and NDIS compliance check
