The Opportunity

The APNIC Foundation currently has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join their team.

APNIC and the APNIC Foundation share a common vision of “a global, open, stable, and secure Internet that serves the entire Asia Pacific community”. The APNIC Foundation seeks to advance education, on a non-profit making basis, in technical, operational and policy matters relating to Internet infrastructure, through undertaking or funding activities in Hong Kong and elsewhere in the Asia and the Pacific region.

The role has a primary focus of administering accounts receivable and payable functions of APNIC Foundation to the standard that meets audit requirements. The role is also expected to support task and duties of APNIC Foundation’s financial operation as assigned which includes but not limited to credit card transaction processing, bank reconciliations, intercompany invoicing, intercompany reconciliations, checking supporting documents to comply with audit requirements, ad-hoc tasks and general administrative support. The role works closely with fellow members of finance and business team, as well as other stakeholders in APNIC and APNIC Foundation. The role is expected to provide effective and responsive communication to suppliers and internal customers, delivering high quality results.

This is a 6 months part-time position (3 days a week) with the possibility that there may be a requirement to work up to 4-5 days.

Competencies

Essential

  • University degree, majoring in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years of performing accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience in using large accounting applications (e.g. NetSuite and Expensify)
  • Experience in handling overseas members / vendors with FX, offshore and GST matters
  • Highly competent using Microsoft office (word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing)
  • Deadline driven with strong organisational and multitasking skills in prioritising tasks
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Agile in approach with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A strong customer service attitude and team player
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, seek clarification and be solution focus
  • Ability to present precise, accurate, logical and timely information

Essential Duties

Accounts Payable

  • End-to-end accounts payable function including
  • Vendor master account maintenance
  • Vendor invoice processing & payments
  • Credit card transaction processing
  • Expense claims payments
  • Check accuracy of invoices including validity of offshore and Australia GST charges
  • Ensure every invoice has accurate supporting documents to meet audit requirements
  • Schedule pay runs for local and international payment as well as staff reimbursement
  • First point of contact with vendors on accounts payable related issues
  • Perform reconciliation including vendor statement and credit card with vendor ledger balance; reconciling items are to be fully supported and explained

Accounts Receivable

  • End-to-end accounts receivable function
  • Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive customer account master
  • Complete receipting process daily
  • Ensure intercompany invoices are issued timely and intercompany accounts reconcile accurately

Other Finance and Project duties

  • Bank reconciliations, intercompany accounts reconciliations, credit card clearing account reconciliations.
  • Support Finance Manager and perform other finance duties as assigned
  • Participating in month-end processing as assigned
