The Australian Refugee Association Inc. (ARA) is a community-based organisation providing settlement, migration and other forms of assistance to refugees, migrants and other people of concern. As a member of our team, you will be supporting new arrivals in South Australia to achieve their social, economic and community participation goals. You will be making a difference in the lives of individuals and families as they re-establish themselves in a new home.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated Employment Caseworker to support people from migrant and refugee backgrounds to become job ready and engage with meaningful employment opportunities.

The Employment Caseworker will be part of a dynamic team implementing an exciting new project and will be responsible for:

  • Conducting employment assessments with clients.
  • Developing and implementing case management plans which address the goals and employment and support needs of participants.
  • Identifying referral pathways to improve job readiness and pathways to employment.
  • Participating in employment related workshops.
  • Supporting participants with practical requirements and preparation for employment.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification in community services, employment, social work or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience obtained through previous employment will also be considered.
  • Good communication, cultural awareness and inter-personal skills.
  • Experience working with marginalised and vulnerable people.
  • Experience in assisting people to overcome barriers and obtain employment.
  • A general understanding of the challenges faced by people with refugee backgrounds.
  • Valid Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain before commencement of employment)
  • Completed Child Safe Environment Training (or be willing to obtain before commencement of employment)

The successful candidate will receive ongoing support from a diverse team and access to ongoing professional development opportunities and will form part of ARA’s growing Employment Services team.

This is a full time Level 3 position of the SCHCDS Industry Award until June 2022 (with the possibility of extension) commencing mid-January 2022.
