The role:

The Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer will be the local representative that is responsible for engaging and building relationships within the community, ensuring increased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement with HelpingMinds. The Aboriginal Engagement Officer will work with Executive Child, Youth and Family Services and Team Facilitator Child, Youth and Family Services to ensure that HelpingMinds services are culturally appropriate.

Aboriginality is recognised as a genuine qualification for this position under 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984. To apply you must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

What will you need to succeed:

• To be considered, candidates will need to be flexible and able to travel within their appointed region to promote the service.
• The successful candidate will have strong experience engaging and working with young people and families, including the ability to engage with Aboriginal people in remote and rural communities.
• The key to your success will be your excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the skill set to develop collaborative partnerships.
• With a relevant qualification in the area of Aboriginal Health, Community Services or Mental Health, you will pride yourself on being self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously while continuing to work towards team goals.

• Annual salary $68,471 to $69,330.
• Generous superannuation contributions starting at 11.5 %, increasing to 12.5% once reaching one year of continuous service
