The role:

The Assisting Communities through Direct Connection (ACDC) Project was created to look at ways to increase independence, assist access to support, encourage social and community participation of people who are not accessing services and collect data on the scale of unmet need in Australian communities. The project operates in all Australian states and territories. People Connectors engaged by HelpingMinds will conduct safe door knocking activities, walking from household to household to discuss the project and how it can be of help to householders, deliver information products on local services and engage in a survey. Householders will be offered relevant information and assistance, if required to support connection to available services.

This is an outreach role that will involve up to 6 hours a day of walking.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Engage, build rapport and initiate conversations about mental health, social and emotional wellbeing with householders through a door knocking approach.
  • Provide householders with information products and explain how these products can be used to seek support.
  • Support householders to take initial steps to connect with social and emotional wellbeing support services.

About You:

We are looking for people that have previous working experience and a sound understanding of mental health with a commitment to making a difference to both the lives of people living with mental health issues, their family and carers.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Relevant (minimum Certificate IV) qualifications in peer work, mental health, or a related field;
  • National Police Clearance (valid within 6 months), Working With Children Check, Current Drivers License
  • Current Covid-19 Vaccine
  • First Aid Certificate

In line with HelpingMinds policy, WA Government Health Directions and Public Health Orders, the successful candidate will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 31 December 2021 and as such will need to provide evidence of their COVID-19 Vaccination status prior to commencement.

Preferred experience:

  • We are ideally looking for candidates with a minimum of 12 months’ experience working in the community managed mental health/social and emotional wellbeing support sector.

  • Base salary: $86,363 per annum pro rata plus 10% superannuation plus remote allowances

  • Two additional wellness days per year to support your own mental health
