This role will be a shared role between the Victorian and Tasmanian Authorities & Services Branch & Victorian Private Sector Branch.

The branch currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Educator role located in Victoria.

Note, some travel throughout Victoria, Tasmania and overnight stays away from home are an expectation of the role.

The roles primary focus involves:

  • To be responsible for the development and delivery of the Branch Delegates Education Programme across metropolitan Melbourne, rural and regional Victoria, and Tasmania.
  • The Educator role seeks to empower delegates and rank and file members to become more union active in their workplace and in the union structures. It also seeks to develop strategies for the branch to encourage workers who are non-members to become members of the ASU.
  • Providing industrial and occupational health and safety training, advice and assistance to ASU members and staff as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Certificate IV (4) in Training and Assessment and experience in course delivery (Mandatory).
  • Worksafe accreditation to deliver the Introductory 5 day OH&S Representatives Course (Desirable).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of computer technology, including training in an online environment including Word for Windows, PowerPoint.
  • An understanding of Trade Union training would be an advantage.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Relevant and demonstrated experience in delivering training in an adult learning environment.
  • Previous experience in union, political or community organising and education, including the application of organising frameworks and transformative learning techniques.
  • have a solid, detailed understanding of the OHS Act, in particular all sections relevant to the purpose of HSRs and their powers, protections, and entitlements
  • A passion for working directly with union delegates, activists and health and safety representatives and union officials who make up our movement.

SALARY: is dependent on level of experience.
